January 12 2006 will go down as a special day for many members and children - that was the day when the club was visited by HRH The Earl of Wessex.

Prince Edward was originally down to open the club back in October last year, but illness on the day put paid to that. A promise was made that he would visit the club at some future date - and a promise was kept. The day started off extremely cold with an overnight frost, but the sun did eventually come out.

First stop for the Earl was to meet the architect and contractors involved with the project, followed by a walk up the side of the main slope to look at the funpark and boarders demonstrating on the jumps and half pipe.

The Earl also stopped to talk to some of Norfolk's young racers and race team coach John Williams. Then down the slope to look a the nursery and second slope areas, where he met representatives of the Club's various "activity clubs" Snowboarding, Ladies Club, Kindergarten, Junior club etc.

Then it was time for a bite to eat before meeting guests, members and staff of Norfolk Ski Club and representatives of local Authorities, Sport England and Snowsport England. The Earl then unveiled a plague to commemorate his visit,Chairman Barry Spouge welcomed HRH to the club and presented him with a framed Honorary Life Membership certificate. The Earl thanked the club for this gift and said how pleased he was to finally make an appearance.

During this tour, Prince Edward stopped to talk to parents and members, also to children from Trowse Primary School who use the Club's field for regular sports and annual Sports Day. The school was invited to attend and brought a number of children along for a "Taster" session. So the day ended, and it was a fantastic day for all of those in attendance. HRH spend much time talking with people about the Club and was very impressed with what the club had achieved.

In a letter to Barrie Spouge, it was stated "(I) would like to pass on (my) thanks appreciation and best wishes to all of those involved with organising the visit. I am aware of how much hard work is involved in the organisation"
He went on to pass his best wishes to all of those involved with the running of such an enthusiastic and successful club.
