‘Men’s Club’
Testosterone Fuelled Battle Ground ?
‘Men’s club’, it all sounds so macho and butch you can almost hear the roar of lewd rugby songs ringing in the clubhouse bar. But come along on any Wednesday evening and nothing could be further from the truth. Granted there is the usual banter expected amongst ,’The Boys’ but when it is time to work on the improvement of personal ski technique or push out of that personal comfort zone, it all becomes a little more serious with visible determination to improve written on many faces.
The session runs from 20:30 to 22:00 every Wednesday evening. The ‘Boys’ are assessed and split into groups, they work together to improve their own personal skiing. Groups and instructors rotate working on varying techniques.
Instruction is structured to general improvement of skiing across the Whole Mountain (and artificial slope) although from time to time races are organised. Other on-slope activities have included guest instructors, ski tests, slalom, giant slalom and agility racing. The races are not the Stag rutting affairs you would expect between alpha males but usually personal tussles between friends and the course, meeting afterwards in the bar to celebrate and ‘discuss’ the evening with fellow competitors, as men like to do. Obviously the course gets tighter, the slope steeper and the near misses nearer with the consumption of reasonably priced beer.
Members new and old are welcome at any time, but you must be male and over 16 to be a member of ‘MEN’S CLUB’ See you soon!
